CHRONOS

2021

CHRONOS makes physical and poetic dance theatre that is socially engaged and accessible. In doing so, this young Amsterdam dance collective always breaks away from the conventional theatrical setting and performs on location or with the audience on stage. In 2019, these ladies took part in the residency programme New Adventures, where they worked on The sea is where you think it is. In 2021, As you lean against the noise will premiere.

CHRONOS is consists of Charlotte Mathiessen, Coralie Merle, Sarah Soethoudt and Vera Goetzee, all graduates of the Modern Theatre Dance course at the Amsterdam School of the Arts.

The sea is where you think it is

Every moment in our lives offers an endless amount of choices and opportunities to make and take. The sea is where you think it is takes you into a performance that discovers the here and now in a shared experience between audience and dancers. CHRONOS expands on the conventional rules of theatre and submerges us in the playground a stage can become.

Three dancers create a physical performance with a strong emphasis on basic human exchange and the plain beauty of co-existing in a space. Through the exploration of water and different textures, CHRONOS finds new ways of expressing movements through the body that are fluent, paradoxical and exciting.

The sea is where you think it is is a coproduction with Dansmakers Amsterdam and ICK, and is made possible thanks to Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, Stichting Janivo and the Gravin van Bylandt Stichting.
