Ropes hang from the ceiling, like hoses or ladders on their way to the intangible. A dancer whispers Eminem's words: the road to success is difficult, the pressure is high. There he stands, challenging us with his gaze. Shameless is a dance portrait, in which the dancer takes us into his inner battle between dominating the stage and vulnerably surrendering to the audience.
Victor Callens has been working with Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten for 13 years and can therefore effortlessly play with ICK's oeuvre to which he adds his own knowledge of ballet and clip-dance. The body of the dancer becomes a living art archive. He lays all his cards open and plays the joker in a challenging game with the audience.
A younger Victor talks to us through projections and offers an insight into the spirit of a dancer. His vulnerability clashes with his strong presence on stage. A hero ready to face any obstacle on his road to success: generous, unfiltered, shameless. Is the audience an ally or an enemy in this battle?
