New Adventures is a program for emerging choreographers who want to deepen their creative practice. The artists work on their project with artistic guidance and productional support from ICK Dans Amsterdam. The results are shown in a “double bill” where artists and audience get a chance to meet and dialogue.
On 2 & 3 June 2023, Ainhoa Hernández Escudero and Kaide Gonzalez will share the research of their four week New Adventures residency in theatre De Vlugt in Amsterdam New-West. Ainhoa Hernández Escudero and Kaide Gonzalez offer us a look at their practices: from reflecting on representations of women and queer characters in traditional western narratives, to peaking in 60 seconds when entering a battle in street and club styles.
In (don’t) look me in the eyes, Ainhoa Hernández Escudero reflects on the Greek myth of Medusa and the Gorgon sisters, through dance, pop culture, goddesses, technology and music. Kaide Gonzalez’s solo 60 seconds deconstructs what it means to enter a battle and the journey behind those 60 seconds in the spotlight.
